This final co-curricular activity and report assesses your ability to meet Course Objectives 10, 11, and 12. To enhance your ability to apply course materials and perspectives beyond the classroom, you are required to complete one co-curricular activity (i.e. attend a museum, art exhibition, lecture/talk on campus) and submit a 4-5 page essay/report on it. The goal of this assignment is to expose you to different perspectives on issues related to course content. Your co-curricular activity should address themes discussed in course materials (e.g., war and reconstruction, land and labor, race relations, racism, immigration, gender, social inequality, laissez-faire economics, capitalism, democracy, government, industrialization, social Darwinism, grass-roots movements, law, political activism, political parties, economic depression, isolationism, constitutional amendments, foreign intervention, “big” government, the welfare state, anti communism, Cold War events, civil rights, social justice, neoconservatism, neoliberalism, etc.). In your report, you should explain how your selected activity provided additional perspective or different perspectives on a topic or issue covered through the course. Students will be able to demonstrate willingness to engage in local, global, international, and intercultural problem solving.
