When it comes to the health implications of prostitution, the first issue is the amount of sexually transmitted diseases that occur with illegal prostitution. Therefore, the first reason I believe it should be legalized is it will help lower the spread of sexually transmitted diseases relating to the sex work industry, “legalized and monitored prostitution does provide significant protection against sexually transmitted diseases for both the prostitute and the customer” (Sullivan, 2016). In places where prostitution is legal in the United States, such as Nevada, they are required to get testing done monthly for several sexually transmitted diseases (Sullivan, 2016).peers discussionProstitution has been around since forever. It, in my opinion, is a taboo profesion. In other countries prostitution is normal. For example in Amsterdam the red light district is famous for having prostitutes, strippers, and other sex workers. Here in America it is highly illegal. I thought our reading this week was very interesting. “An important step in becom-ing a prostitute is knowing others who are involved in the trade or who are on its fringe.”(Sullivan, 2015 I can imagine that prostituting is an easy and quick way to make money.
