For your fourth and largest paper, you will propose a solution (or, perhaps, more than one) to a modern problem in American society or the world at large. A proposal, in general, presents a plan for change and the reasons behind it.
Follow these steps when making your proposal:
Define/explain the problem as you see it. Do this in your introduction.
Present a claim, essentially a thesis, that includes a plan for future action to bring about change. In this paragraph, include the reasons why people should listen to your plan and act on it.
Demonstrate how your proposed plan addresses the need you have described in the introduction. Go through the details of your plan, explaining how it is the best course of action to take.
Convince the audience that the plan is feasible, meaning it is possible to achieve. This could be part of what you do in your conclusion, or it could come before the conclusion.
Remember, you are looking to the future for this paper, so your conclusion should leave the reader to contemplate what your plan could accomplish.
