Discuss about the consequences of forgetting the home language and adopting a new language.
This will be an expository paper (i.e. it introduces your research question(s), then presents and explains the work you’ve done and the conclusions you’ve reached). You will provide enough contextual information so that your reader will be able to follow your reasoning as you develop your argument. You will be careful to make your ideas and logic explicit – no hidden assumptions other than that your reader is a trained linguist. Be sure to include your own (possibly changed) perspective, i.e. why you find the topic interesting or even compelling. If you were surprised by some of your findings, please say that and discuss how the project changed or expanded your understanding. If you have ideas for applying your findings in the community, please discuss those plans too.
These papers will be evaluated for content – insight, accuracy, completeness, and textual support – as well as form – diction (word choice), logical structure, syntax, spelling and punctuation.
