Write a discussion paper on Cellular Respiration.

This is the same as was given out in class. Please use CLASS DATA for the rates table or figure (you can use your own group data when making your first graph, of CO2 vs. time). In the DISCUSSION ALSO USE CLASS DATA.
Write a discussion paper on Cellular Respiration.Figure 1 is a line graph of the three temperatures (in the key) and how CO2 levels change over time. Table 1 (or Figure 2 / bar graph) is the class averages for rate vs. temperature.
Monday Lab: Class Data: Rates (in ppm / sec) are Cold (15 C) = 1.9 / Room Temp (25 C) = 3.5 / Warm (35 C) = 6.2

INDIVIDUAL DATA WILL BE IN PICTURES

For this report you must write up the entire experiment from Part 1 only (mealworms). You must include the abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and lit cited sections. You may use your group’s rate numbers for your first graph (CO2 vs. Time) BUT USE CLASS DATA for RATES (table or graph) in Results and Discussion. Then DISCUSS WHY rates increase as temps increase, and whether or not we saw a Q10 (we did! close enough!) Last, please include at least ONE Scientific Journal source as one of your valid source citations (you may use more than one, or your second source can be the lab book or textbook). Two citations from valid sources are required. USE the citations to help you “prove” your case (not just for vocabulary). Did another researcher find that ectotherms also showed Q10? also had faster metabolism/cell respiration at wamer temps?
In the discussion, I’m looking for you to tie together the fact that warmer bodies have faster reactions with Q10 (rates doubling for every ten degree increase in temp). Why are rates faster at warmer temps? think about what we learned from the osmosis /diffusion lab, and the enzyme lab … molecules mover faster – so reactions are faster.
