ECE-285 Planning a Week with Infants and Toddlers Chapter 19 of our course textbook addresses the role of planning for learning in the infant and toddler classroom. Use the information in Ch. 19, along with information you’ve learned from the Video Reflections, to develop a learning plan for either infants OR toddlers. Download the Weekly Planning document Download Weekly Planning document . Type your work directly into this document. Follow these steps to plan for a week of learning: Start by deciding whether to focus on either infants or toddlers. Discuss your practicum children. What is your group like? What are the children’s personalities like? What do typical learning activities look like? What do your kids enjoy most? What skills are they starting to develop? What do you think they’d want to learn about? In the “Emerging Skills and Interests” section of your plan, write down what skill(s) your group wants to focus on for the week. Be thoughtful about an emerging skill that is appropriate for the age group you select. (You can leave the Planning week of, Home-base, and Teachers sections blank.) Once you pick your emerging skills/interests, think about how you will adapt the classroom environment to provide experiences related to the skill(s). Fill in each “Learning Center/Station” section with adaptations to the environment you’ll make to help develop the skill(s). Next, identify specific experiences related to language, large-motor, small-motor, sensory/creative/science, music/movement, and outdoors that will help develop your selected skill(s). Write a short reflection (under 1 page) about your planning process: Talk about how you selected the skill to address. Give us examples of environmental adaptations you’ll make for the skill. Describe 2-3 sample activities and how they relate to your emerging skill. Submit your completed work to the drop box in Canvas.
