Objective
For this exercise, you are tasked to create a supply chain map following a modified SIPOC format. SIPOC stands for Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs and Customers (SIPOC). For our purposes, we are going to replace the P for Process with P for Product and add transportation modes as well as warehouse distribution center nodes, if necessary, to connect our suppliers with our inputs and our outputs with our customers. We will assume that the Input-Product-Output cycle is taking place within the same facility and therefore does not need additional transportation or warehousing.
Project Instructions
Create a map of a supply chain on a PowerPoint slide showing
1. a Product
2. at least five inputs required for that product
3. the suppliers for those each of the five inputs
4. the transportation modes and warehouses (if necessary) to get the five inputs from the suppliers to the production facility
5. the output(s) of the production facility
6. the customers for those outputs
7. the transportation modes and warehouses (if necessary) to get the outputs from the production facility to the customer
limit your powerpoints to a maximum of two slides. The only requirement is one slide featuring your process map, but sometimes student like to emphasis a particular point and explain something unique about their map, so an additional slide is acceptable but not required.
Write a report required explaining the features of the map. It should include a brief introduction of the product and the outputs along with the reasons of why you chose the inputs, suppliers and customers included in your report. The report is the place to convince your professor that you did extensive research into the components of your map by including in-text citations and descriptions of the searches you undertook to establish credible inputs, suppliers and customers. The transportation modes should also be researched to ensure that your supply chain is operating efficiently.
