The mini-essay prompt is as follows:
How did the New Deal reorient Americans’ relationship to government?
Your thesis statement is the answer to this question. This is not a yes-or-no question. This is not a compare-and-contrast question; your answer cannot be a list of things which have changed. You must pick at least three (3) sources from the six provided, along with the textbook, for a minimum total of four (4) sources for your paper. You may pick any three primary sources you like. Note that some of these sources have transcriptions which make them easier to read – remember to cite them properly. The primary source links are as follows:
Conrad Albrizio’s Mural “The New Deal” (Links to an external site.)
Interview (Links to an external site.) with Charles Fusco

All written assignments must have a thesis statement, footnotes, a bibliography, the student’s name on the first page, and should adhere to the conventions of standard written English. Papers must have citations according to the Chicago Manual of Style Notes-Bibliography format. A title page is not required. Papers must be double-spaced. This paper must have a minimum of 900 words; the student’s name, page numbers, citations and bibliography entries do not count towards this minimum.
See the rubric for how the paper will be graded, but bear in mind the final grade is determined by the instructor.
