Comparative Review content requirements: The paper must provide a detailed consideration of both Goffmans book On the Run and Moskos book Cop in the Hood. Beyond these two texts one other, Loc Wacquants review essay Scrutinizing the Street: Poverty, Morality and the Pitfalls of Urban Ethnography has been provided for guidance and context. Outside these three compulsory texts, references to five (5) other OUTSIDE scholarly books, journal articles, etc. are required. Elements of the essay should include the following:
1. Introduction: explaining the topic and over-viewing the structure of the paper
2. Definitions of key terms, themes and/or comparative issues: explain key theoretical terms; outline relevant issues and key themes; identify a basis for comparison
3. Assessment of facts, analysis and data: assess the veracity of the works; identify authors standpoints for their analysis and compare them; assess and compare presentation of data
4. Analysis and conclusion: the paper should analyse and explain your topic, be logically coherent and structured, and lead to a conclusion.
Objective: Write an academically informed analysis of the use and analytic value of ethnography in the study of policing and urban crime control by comparing two observational studies.
