There has been a significant amount of coverage concerning
the rise in the crime rate, which in turn raising the victimization rate over
the past two years. However, the overall crime rate has been on a downward
trend with most crimes since the 1990’s.
Your assignment is to review victimization data over the last five-ten
years to see what crimes have trended upward while most crimes have trended
downward. You will then choose which one of these crimes you will write your
paper on.
You will then need to describe the crime (how & why it
occurs), and provide statistical data to support your argument that the crime
you choose is trending upward. Additionally, you will need to describe any
consequences towards the victim whether intangible or tangible. Who is
the most likely victim? Are there short-term consequences or long-term
consequences for the victim? (Maybe both). These are some of the issues you will need to
address to avoid point deductions.
Paper Specifics
Length- 7-12 full
pages. (This can include your reference page, but your title page and abstract
are on separate pages and do not count towards the length of the paper)
Graphs- Can be
used to support data, but will not be applied to the length of the paper.
APA- However, I
do not require a running head.
References- A
minimum of six references.
