Application essay for International Relations Summer Program.
Reasons to apply:
Now in junior year at Tasis American School in Switzerland studying IB.
I am from Barcelona (Spain). I have done most of my education at the British school of Barcelona where I had a lot of exposure and relation with students and friends around the world. I want to study international relations in the future and Georgtown would be my first choice
This is why I decided to study abroad in an American/International school in Switzerlnd my IB years, to have more international exposure, develop my language skils, get close to where a lot of international organizations are located,both guvernamental and NGOs. this meant a lot of effort for my parents, but they have always supported me in my education and my dreams.
This is also why I want to do Georgetown international relations summer program, to start having some exposure to the contents and school and because I am highly interested in some of the contents.
The current geopolitical situation, the need for mediation, the need for diplomacy, the reaction of the society, the situation of Ucraine refugees, has only reinforced my vocation.
Since very young I have had interest on foreign cultures and this is why in addition to my mother languages (catalan & spanish) and educated in english, I speak Italian fluently, advanced German, and some Russian and French that I have learned with my Russian and French speaking friends.
A bit more about me, I am a field hockey player currently playing National league in Switzerland with the Prima Squadra from Lugano team. I have previously competed in Spain since I was 7years old. I also hold a degree in Piano from the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music in the UK having finalized all grades up to their Grade 8.
