Here are the basic features of the assignment. Your research essay should address a well thought out research problem in an essay of approximately 20 double-spaced pages. It should reflect your training and experience in literary and cultural studies and should be written in a way that it will be of interest to a broader academic audience– in other words, to curious, well-educated people who are not specialists in the field.
Your sources may include scholarly texts, other literary texts, or both. You may include relevant essays from peer-reviewed journals, though that should not be your only primary sources.
Please include a works cited page that follows current MLA guidelines.
The three books from the authors are: “World of Wonders” by Aimee Nezhukumatathil, “Vesper Flights” by Helen Macdonald, and “Its Day Being Gone” by Rose McLarney. These three books share a theme of Nostalgia. Please write about how the theme is shared between them, but is also vastly different in each novel.
