Create your spreadsheet in Nutrition CalcPlus, migrate the data from that spreadsheet on
to the three tables below. You will use these tables to reflect about the nutritional information that
emerges from grouping foods botanically and taxonomically. In your write-up you will discuss the
defining nutritional features of each category. You will explain what the nutrients are, why they are
important and why you suspect they are high in some categories while not in others. In other words, the
learning outcome of this assignment is to learn to associate nutrients to specific food groups and to
justify the nutritional composition of each category. Note: You are not expected to discuss every single
nutrient and ingredient; the objective is to look for and discuss the general patterns that emerge.
The write-up should be 1,000 to 1,500 words & double-spaced. Remember that aesthetics in a written
report matter. This means you give your tables (and figures, if you choose to include any) proper titles,
run a spell check, apply proper spacing between paragraphs, etc.
Referencing: All the information you need to complete this report is available within this course. You
can include outside sources, but if you stray too much off topic by including research beyond the scope
of this assignment, you will not do well.
Other than all of the above requirements, you are encouraged to bring your particular strengths –this
may depend on your primary program of study (e.g. a major in math, creative writing, chemistry, ….),
and interests in food to the analysis and write-up.you will be comparing the diversity and richness of macronutrients and micronutrients of specific ingredients. The exploration of the nutritional composition of these ingredients will be supported by the NutritionCalc Plus software.
