Mini Annotated Bibliography & Reflection Assignment:
This is a miniature version of what you will submit at the end of the semester (see Annotated Bibliography & Reflection Benchmarks and Final in syllabus and under the Annotated Bibliography & Reflection Benchmarks and Final tab). You will want to look at this larger assignment to gain more guidance on how to complete this mini version.
Select a topic from this week’s readings.
Clary indicate that topic at the top of your entry and the page number where it can be located in your book. Example: Freedman’s Bureau, p. 571-572.
Create two annotated bibliographic entries. You must cite your source in MLA style. Then, write your annotations: These will be brief paragraphs (75-100 words) describing who wrote the source, when it was written, and a brief summary of what it says about your topic.
Create a 250-300 word reflection answering the following questions
Did the way your topic was talked about change from one source to the other? If so, how? (Pay attention to the differences, there are seldom two sources that will present the same information in exactly the same way. If your sources are too similar and you see no differences, if is best to select another source.)
Whose voices are reflected in the sources you found? Are there voices or perspectives about your topic that you are missing? What might their perspective add to your understanding?
How were the events chronicled in your work impacted by and/or impacted members of the broader international community?
Week 2 Reading Assignment:
Chapter 15
Chapter 16
Please read these chapters and watch the videos below in the “Interviews with Dr. Foner” folder below. These short interview segments will help clarify some of the topics discussed by Dr. Foner in his textbook. After reading and watching the videos take the chapter quizzes. These can be taken as many times as you would like before the due date (I will record the highest score) but can only be taken after the due date upon request and legitimate reason for extension.
