Write an essay to your classmates and me (your professor) in which you find the similarities and differences in two related items, for the ultimate purpose of deciding which is “best” (however that is defined in your context).
For this essay, you will use at least two high-quality internet sources written for the general public. Your sources will help you articulate appropriate criteria for comparing and contrasting your element, but also help you to develop the details needed for analysis and evaluation. You must use at least one nugget of information from each of these sources.
Introduce the source material in the most appropriate place in your essay with the phrase According to … At the end of your source material, add a citation (author’s name, year of publication).
Likewise, each source you cite and incorporate in your essay must be listed in your references list. (If you are already familiar with APA 7 citation format, please use that. Otherwise, post the URLs for the information you cited.)
You are often called upon at school, at work, or in your personal life to compare two or more options, ultimately evaluate each, and likely choose one over the other(s). You might choose from various options about which college to attend, which appliance to buy, which employee to hire. The process of comparing (finding similarities) and contrasting (finding differences) requires you to identify the criteria you are using to make judgments and to look carefully at the details of each option. This essay helps you develop your ability to look carefully at details, to analyze and evaluate, and to come to a decision.
