Instructor Instructions:
This is the most comprehensive piece at the course. In this module students will be expected to create a research methodology. The research methodology is a linchpin for your entire research thesis. Though this is short in length, it comprises the elements of what you will measure as it relates to your research question. In many cases students will be engaging in qualitative research or some variant of mixed methodology. To successfully complete this unit, students will be required to have the following:
Introductory page that provides an overview of the what will come in this section. (1 page)
A data collection strategy. (1 page)
Characteristics of the data to be collected. (1 page)
A rationale for the research methodology selected. (2 pages)
Students must successfully complete the shoot at 75% or higher.
My Instructions:
This section is the research methodology section. I will insert the example our professors gave us to go off of. I will also insert my annotated bibliography so you know which sources to use. Lastly I will include an in depth PowerPoint given to us to further help. It needs to be specified in the methodology section whether I will be use qualitative or quantitative data and what type of qualitative or quantitative data is being used. The sections that should be included in the paper are:
Introduction
Method Explanation
Unit of Analysis
Proposed Method of Analysis
Justification
Sample Size
Procedures
Controls for Bias
Limitations
My research questions to be used for the methodology portion of my paper are: R.Q. #1: What are the similarities and differences between African American murder victims and their white assailants in media coverage?
R.Q. #2: Why is there such a distinction in the way African American murder victims are portrayed versus their white assailants?
