This written assignment involves analyzing a production or adaptation of Othello. You will analyze the artistic and interpretive choices made by the director or choreographer, and you will evaluate the results of those choices: what is gained, and what is lost, as we move from one art form, language, national tradition, and/or time period to another?
Your short essay should begin with an introduction that shares some basic information about the adaptation you’ve chosen and suggests some themes and questions that you plan to address in your analysis. Avoid large generalizations and too much plot summary; focus on matter at hand.
After your introduction, your short essay should quote Shakespeare in every body paragraph, commenting on elements of Shakespeare’s language and imagery and comparing the text to 2-3 clips from the production or adaptation. Make sure to review Lupton’s powerpoint on citing drama]
