Create content-area instruction that incorporates reading vocabulary and comprehension, as well as activities for writing and fluency. 1- Identification of a specific grade level and subject area (English for high school) . 2- A selection of content reading material of 3 to AND a related digital material (website, video) WITH an explanation of how the two materials support each other in terms of instruction . 3- Identification of 2 relevant and grade level standards: ELA Vocabulary and ELA Comprehension . (Florida Standards) 4- Analyses of the readability level of content reading material using (1) a Fry readability graph (10 points) AND (2) Microsoft Word readability tool AND a description of how the readability level(s) align with the identified grade level 5- What you will do to make the material accessible for students (If the readability level(s) are above grade level or what would you do to scaffold instruction OR if the readability is at grade level, what would you do to scaffold instruction for students who are reading below grade level? 6- Identification of 10 terms taken from the reading selection . 7- Vocabulary activity using the 10 terms. 8- Identification of expository text type(s) in the reading selection . 9- Comprehension activity for the reading selection with reference to the level of Bloom’s Taxonomy . 10- Comprehension monitoring instruction . 11- Writing activity that integrates the content reading selection with the digital material AND that leads to fluency activity . 12- Fluency activity based on writing activity (. 13- Study/Learning Strategy (e.g., test preparation, test-taking, listening and notetaking, time management, mnemonics) . 14- Class discussion questions that reflect both the content reading selection and the digital material AND that are at each level of Bloom’s Taxonomy . 15- Use of a Web 2.0 tool for EITHER the vocabulary, comprehension, writing, or fluency activity (15 points).
