Final Project: due on Wednesday of Week 4.
Art of Negotiation
Create a term paper for this class related to the art of negotiation. You may choose from any one of the 3 subjects below.
This two-page paper (not including reference page) should contain at least 500 words and be in APA format.
Present your OUTLINE draft of your paper detailing the topic and some of the sources you will turn to for information by Week Two (to stay on track). Remember the paper must relate to a specific topic in our class. Comment on another student outline. Be proactive and provide a constructive feedback. This is worth 10% of the final grade for the project.
Term Paper Topics
Option 1: Research and analyze a negotiation as reported in the media. — e.g. a labor-management dispute, disarmament talks, international negotiations, major business deals, etc. It must be from a media outlet. Do not use a blog, Wikipedia, an opinion article, or an already elaborated case study. You must use the theory learned in this course and apply some of the concept to the specific case selected by you. Use reliable sources of information.
Option 2: Research and analyze a negotiator — e.g. Henry Kissinger, or any other leader. You must use the theory learned in this course and apply some of the concepts to the specific negotiator that you selected. Use reliable sources of information. Do not use a blog, Wikipedia, an opinion article, or an already elaborated case study.
Option 3: Summarize a stream of research in one of the many areas of negotiation — e.g. the effectiveness of threats, face saving, strategies of deterrence, ethics, effectiveness of third parties, etc. The main source of information must be research-oriented textbooks and journals. Use real examples to illustrate the area of negotiation that you selected. Use reliable sources of information. Do not use a blog, Wikipedia, an opinion article, or an already elaborated case study.
