Write a Self-reflective practice in trauma-informed work. This paper is to be a self-reflective exercise considering the importance of understanding one’s own biases and the potential impact of one’s own life experiences when engaging in trauma –informed work. This paper will acknowledge the high
incidence of trauma in society; the potential to be triggered by the work; the
influence of cultural biases, personal values, etc. The second half of this paper
will then explore the education/supports/practices necessary to bolster your
ability to engage in this important work. In addition to personal reflections
demonstrating self-awareness, a minimum of 4 scholarly/credible sources
(not including course texts and readings) will be referenced. For example, you
may wish to research the importance of mindful practice, the rewards and
challenges of working with trauma, the risk of vicarious trauma, and/or protective/resiliency factors to ensure the ability to do this work. Please note that
interviews are not allowed for any assignment unless your instructor has gone
through Seneca’s Ethics Review Board.
