Newspaper, old pieces of clothing, toilet paper, recycled pads and tampons. These unsanitary products have been used as replacements for feminine hygiene products due to their cost and lack of accessibility. But feminine hygiene products aren’t the only thing people are being deprived of, but also other resources such as education and waste managements. Feminine hygiene products and resources aren’t a luxury but a right, that should be accessible to everyone not just those who can “afford it”.

Many argue that feminine hygiene products are nothing more then a luxury. And although they aren’t classified as a luxury item they are still being taxed like one. Despite the countless arguments made where their considered a necessity.Feminine hygiene products should be considered an essential as they aid many in staying hygienic and healthy.
Concluding Paragraph:
The issue of period poverty is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly. It’s stated that approximately 500 million suffer from it globally and that in the U.S. alone 16.9 million people struggle with it. Access to these items and resources should be a right for everyone. And with movement and programs such as Big Sister Mentoring more and more people are being educated and given the resources necessary to make a change.
