This module is assessed in two parts. You must achieve a minimum (passing grade) of 40% in each assessment. Please note that failure to pass either assessment will result in a resit grade being awarded. You will need to resit the assessment that you did not pass. Assessment part 1: A1 Poster presentation (25% module mark) Title: Conference poster presentation. Desсrіption: Create a conference poster to propose a service improvement project to promote improvement in adult nursing services. In this assignment, you will create and present an A1 poster that outlines a service improvement project. Assessment part 2: 2500 word essay (75% module mark). Title: Essay providing a rationale for your proposed project outlined in part 1. Desсrіption: To provide an accompanying rationale for the implementation of this project which will explore the theoretical foundations of your leadership/change management/teaching & learning strategy: Part 2: Provide an accompanying rationale for the implementation of this project which will explore the theoretical foundations of your leadership / change management / teaching & learning strategy Suggested sections and word counts (guided by the Action Research Cycle) What to include Introduction 150 words Overview of the assignment State the Service Improvement Project and link to poster State which aspect of implementation you will be focusing on (e.g. teaching & learning / organisational change management) Rationale: Why is this important? Where are we now? Where do we want to be? Why is this SIP needed? – give a brief synopsis of the topic What is your personal rationale for this? (What are your personal observations)? What is the bigger picture? Local / National / International research / statistics that identify change may be needed? The essence of this section is to explain what the current situation is, what the situation should be (ie what are you aiming for), and why is this important – this should be concise as you will have summarised this in your poster. Notes: you could include a Fishbone Analysis here Theory of implementation: How will we get there? Explore the theory; Challenge the theory; develop your implementation plan Introduce the implementation plan (You can decide whether you will focus on change management theory, or teaching & learning theory for your implementation). Give concise details about the context of the implementation Critically evaluate the theory in relation to the context of your service improvement project (SIP) What are the benefits of this theory? How will it help you? What are the challenges? What may hinder you? Critically explore your role as a leader of this SIP? What leadership theory will influence the way that you take on this role? How will you evaluate whether this approach has been effective and why? Notes: if focusing on the teaching aspect of implementation, you should include a teaching plan within the appendix If focusing on change management you should include a force field analysis or SWOT analysis and a timeline. Discussion and Learning: What next? 600 words What have you learnt from this process of designing a SIP – conclusions from theory? What did you learn from the formative conference feedback? What leadership skills have you identified that you need to develop to effectively implement this project? Include a personal development plan (using, for example, SMART goals).
