Alternative
healing for active and veteran soldiers
There are serious
challenges facing military soldiers and veterans across the United States in
the veterans’ Health Care System. A
famous problem influencing Gulf War Veterans is a collection of clinically
unusual chronic signs and symptoms that can include tiredness, migraines, joint
pain, acid indigestion, sleeping disorders, lightheadedness, breathing
conditions, and memory issues. VA describes these diseases as “chronic
multisymptom ailment” as well as “undiagnosed health problems. https://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/gulfwar/medically-unexplained-illness.asp
The VA’s Epidemiology
Program performed a multiyear survey research study of Gulf War-era Veterans
that offered in 1990-1991 to learn just how their wellness has altered over
time. Scientists conducted a first survey in 1995, a second study in 2005, as
well as a third survey in 2012. https://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/gulfwar/research.asp
Epidemiology is the
research study as well as evaluation of the distribution of patterns to include
factors of wellness and also condition problems in a particular population.
It is a keystone of public health and wellness, and also shapes plan decisions
as well as evidence-based technique by recognizing risk variables for illness
as well as targets for precautionary health care. Epidemiologists assist with
research study layout, collection, and analytical evaluation of information, it
also defines interpretation as well as dissemination of outcomes.

The idea that there are
such limited platforms for healing plays a disadvantage for soldiers and
veterans seeking alternative healing remedies.
Very little implementation has been done in the area of mind body
spirit. A study conducted referred to as
“complementary or alternative medicine” or CAM is the study of healing mind
body all using more natural means and less invasive alternatives. The study was conducted by The National
Institute of Health’s National Center for Complementary and Alternative
Medicine (NCCAM). Natural holistic approaches have been introduced but have not
yet made mainstream alternatives for active enlisted soldiers. Although VA’s has allowed more flexibility to
veterans, active duty soldiers have seen less opportunities too holistic
healing alternatives.
Complementary or
alternative medicine all implies the application of such things as acupuncture,
meditation, or herbal medicine, it’s estimated that almost 38 percent of adults
in the U.S. have used some kind of complementary or alternative medicine (CAM)
treatment. The National Institute of Health’s National Center for Complementary
and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) defines complementary and alternative medicine
as “a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and
products that are not generally considered part of conventional medicine.
Complementary and alternative medicine therapies vary widely, and can include
mind-body practices such as meditation, acupuncture, or tai chi; natural
products like probiotics, herbs, or minerals; and other complementary
treatments including homeopathy, naturopathy, or traditional Chinese medicine
have been used.
