For this assignment, you will compare and contrast the Neoclassical and Romantic painting styles (chosen in class).
Your analysis should highlight both similarities and differences in their formal elements/principles of design and content. Additionally, examine the meaning, purpose, and ideas behind each style, discussing why the artist chose a particular approach and how it impacts the overall effect of the artwork. You will then share out with the rest of the class.
1- Formal elements:
A_ The way the work of art looks
B– line, color, shape, mass, texture, space, time, movement, etc.
C- Principles of Design (Composition): Unity, Variety, Symmetry, Asymmetry, pattern, etc.
2- CONTENT: The story or meaning behind a work of art represented by its subject matter and visual elements.
