Topic: Capture the Flag (CtF).

You are required to apply the methodology of the “anatomy of an attack” on a target system with the aim of identifying and collecting as much information as possible about it, as well as exploiting potential vulnerabilities that you will discover.

The goal is to locate and extract two (2) flag.txt files, as well as attempt to utilize their contents (hash values) for the purpose of the attack.

The deliverables will include a report with a full presentation of:
• The methodology you followed,
• The tools you used (execution parameters),
• The results of their execution (reports),
• Any potential suggestions for improving the target system.

Setup Instructions
1. Import (install) the target system virtual machine, with default settings:
• Network: Bridged Connection.
• Assumes the existence of a DHCP service (default in home networks).
• Communication between the host computer and the virtual machine (guest) on the local network.
2. Import the Kali Linux virtual machine (contains many useful tools).
3. Establish communication between the two virtual machines.

Deliverables

1. Create files named CS_P1_#### (e.g., CS_P1_1999), where #### represents the student ID, as listed in the provided email address.
2. The files must include:
• A Google Docs document containing:
1. The methodology you followed,
2. The tools you used (e.g., execution parameters),
3. Parts of the results of their execution,
4. Interpretation of your findings,
5. Potential suggestions for improving the target system,
6. A glossary of terms and concepts,
7. References to external links with brief descriptions of the rest of the files.
