Write a response to the two writings, reflect on what else your colleague will have to research (i.e., what gaps remain) in order to be thorough with their research project (i.e., consider “What else will they have to read or understand to fully address their research question?”).

Thank you, Melissa, for being thorough in touching points on each article. The research articles that were shared sounded very useful concerning your research topic. It is interesting to see there have been many articles completed to address Sexually Coercive behaviors. Many of the articles’ abstracts appear to focus on the individual, and what sounds interesting to learn about would be the individual’s relationship with their parents and whether the individual was using watching pornography as a way of coping to quiet down their pain or trauma. It would also be interesting to know which gender is most engaged in such behaviors and what kind of support they had growing up, such as being raised in a family home, group home facilities, orphanages, etc. Lastly, as a reader, it would be helpful to see if other findings were conducted to review if the siblings of the individuals in the study were also engaged in such behaviors to determine the genetic cause or if they were in the same household with the same parents and parenting styles that affected their well-being.

Hi Melissa,
Your choice of topic is commendable. Your selected articles provide a strong foundation for your research. I’m particularly interested in the specific mechanisms through which early exposure to pornography can negatively influence a child’s cognitive and emotional development, especially in terms of their understanding of healthy relationships and sexual behavior.
Your 1st article on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent pornography addiction is quite thought-provoking. It’s interesting how factors such as increased boredom and social isolation, exacerbated by lockdowns, contributed to this trend. I’m curious to delve deeper into the specific mechanisms through which these factors influence adolescent behavior.
The qualitative study in your 5th article sounds like it sheds light on a critical, often overlooked aspect of adolescent pornography use. It’s fascinating how cultural and socioeconomic factors can shape these behaviors.
