Presentation: Exercise Cycle
You are the Office of Emergency Management director in Pleasantville City, U.S.A. After you presented your emergency operations plan (EOP) at the last council meeting, city officials want to know how it can be evaluated before an event occurs. The mayor has asked you to create a presentation for the council that walks them through the exercise cycle for Pleasantville to evaluate their plan.
This is a critical presentation because you have asked for a significant increase in your EOC budget, but you also need funds to support your next exercise cycle.
In the presentation, describe the exercise cycle and establish the purpose and scope of an exercise for Pleasantville. Establish a target date for the exercise and develop a timeline to include the Concept and Objectives Meeting and two or three planning meetings. Describe the resources that will be needed to facilitate your exercise planning. Identify at least three key planning team members and describe their roles in the exercise process. Be sure to include the below in your presentation:
What is the purpose of exercising the EOP?
What would be the organizational structure of your exercise planning team?
How would the exercise be evaluated?
What is done after the evaluation, and how will it help the community to improve its EOP?
Your presentation should be 15–20 slides in length (excluding title slide and reference slide).
Note: This assignment will require outside research. Use at least two credible sources beyond the text material and discuss how you evaluated the credibility of the resources used. Using proper APA citation style, you may consult the Purdue Global Library, the internet, the textbook, other course material, and any other outside resources to support your task.
