Throughout this course, you will submit two essays, each discussing current news articles of
your choice. These articles must relate to policy issues in education. You will critique the article
in relation to the evidence the author used to make their claim. Show whether the author
provided reasonable arguments and facts for their main points.
News articles used for this assignment must come from a newspaper, a news program, or some
other reputable news source. Your article should be no more than five years old. Select a news
article that relates to your current or future profession.
Your essay must be submitted as a Word document and must be 300-400 words, not including
the required title and references pages. Support your writing with properly cited scholarly
sources and use current APA formatting. Your paper should cover the following sections:
• Introduction: Provide an overview of the article and the topic it covers
• Topic Discussion: Describe how the article relates to policy issues in education
• Educational Implications: Describe the educational implications of the news article.
