Citing image examples from Chapters 8, 9, and 10 – Antiquity (Early Christian and Jewish), Byzantine, and Islamic, discuss religious imagery and how it reflects each faith, and how it communicates religious beliefs, customs, and values through iconography.
Also consider the progression of representation within a religious canon. For example, representations of Christ change dramatically from Antiquity to late Byzantine. Compare and contrast at least two examples (from different faiths) in detail.
