Abortion is now a PDOH that every healthcare facility will need to address. The case study for this assignment describes a scenario that many hospitals are facing today. For this assignment, you will lead a multi-disciplinary hospital team to determine what new policies are needed for your hospital to address how new abortion laws in your chosen state will impact your facility’s delivery of abortion services.
FIRST, research and select a state that has passed laws banning or severely restricting abortions since the SCOTUS struck down Roe v Wade in June 2022. Choose one of the states and use it as your chosen state. If your state of residence is one of the states that has banned or severely restricted abortions, you can use it as your chosen state.
SECOND, prepare a one page summary of the new abortion law in your chosen state.
THIRD, analyze your chosen states law and list what you believe to be the major issues/problems with the new law.
FOURTH, develop a total of 4 questions based on what you believe are the problems / issues with the new law and the issues in the case study.
LASTLY, describe how you will use these questions to lead and engage your team in identifying new policies that will need to be developed and implemented at your hospital to ensure it’s compliance with the new law. (5 a,b,c).
