Your textbook describes how reflected appraisals may affect celebrities. In an age of celebrity gossip and paparazzi, do you think that media coverage of events or scandals (e.g., the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp trial) may contribute to the creation of celebrity culture? How so? What are some of the implications of that for media?
Pertaining to chapter 8:
What kinds of communication problems might occur when members of a diverse work team hold different value orientations toward being and doing? How might someone who usually uses a being mode view someone with a doing mode, and vice versa? Was your family predominantly individualistic or collectivistic? What experiences from your childhood and adolescence make you think that your family preferred one cultural value over another?
