Catalogue Description (new)
Designs and implements in-depth projects under the supervision of a faculty member or a group of faculty members. Students are to select a topic, conduct a comprehensive literature survey, make meaningful contributions toward the field of Cybersecurity, write a project report, and present it in front of a group of faculty members and general public.
This course aims at students who have completed at least 18 credits out of required 30 credits (6 courses out of 10). Students apply theoretical concepts and skills to practical, real-world scenarios. They select one research topic based on their interests. This process involves extensive engagement with the latest research and technical papers relevant to their chosen topics. Students are expected to identify any gaps in their understanding and undertake further study to bridge these gaps. A critical aspect of the course is to encourage students to identify potential drawbacks or problems in current approaches to cybersecurity, representing a step forward in the field.

Course Objectives (CO)

1. Integrate Knowledge Across Disciplines: To synthesize and apply knowledge acquired from foundational and core courses in system security, including computer systems, software programming, and hacking.
2. Engage with Current Research: To critically engage with the most recent research and technical papers, enhancing understanding of current trends and developments in system security.
3. Identify and Address Security Challenges: To recognize and articulate key challenges in the field of cybersecurity, particularly in relation to threats, vulnerabilities, and attack methodologies.
4. Develop Solutions to Cybersecurity: To innovate and design effective strategies or solutions to mitigate identified cybersecurity threats or issues.
5. Practical Application and Problem-Solving: To apply theoretical concepts in practical scenarios, demonstrating problem-solving skills and technical prowess through coding and system design.
Student Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Analyze and Evaluate Security Systems: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of various system security aspects and critically analyze them for potential risks and vulnerabilities.
2. Master Research Skills: Effectively research, select, and synthesize current literature and technical papers on chosen topics within system security.
