After you have finished reading Dickens’s Great Expectation and Wilkie Collins’s massive novel, The Woman in White, formulate a writeable topic on a social issue as depicted in the two novels. Explore a topic that you find interesting and research-worthy for your peers for their research paper.
You will basically write a mini paper in about 700 words, justifying what, why, and how of the topic.
You will provide a clear and solid thesis statement/ or prompt that can be used for further research.
You will use outside reference source to back up your information on the issues or the authors in regard to your topic. For example, if your topic is about social or gender issues in Dickens and Collins, then you must do some research on the two novels and their background. You must use academic journals as your reference source.
You have to provide at least two outside reference sources for the novels (one for each novel), and you have to quote from them directly.
You have to use your primary text, the Blackwell book (pages 59-98) as one of the required reference source.
You also have to use 2 direct quotes from the novels (one from each) in support of your argument.
To help you count the required number of references, here is the recap: you will use 2 outside references (one for each novel) and direct quotations from them [one from each], 2 direct quotations from the novels [ one from each ; you may use more], and the Blackwell book. That means you have to have all these sources mentioned in your Works Cited page [in proper MLA format]
Your write up should be written in minimum 700 words and will be penalized by 2 points if it is below 700 by 50 words or above 800 words.
