To some it up, the instructions will be here, and the template that you will use for the entire report will be in the ‘attached files’ section. If you have any questions please let me know and I’ll be in touch. Please and thank you…
Introduction:
In the Climate Change Unit, you will be investigating the earth and how climate works. You will also learn about the biology of climate change, the consequences of climate change and how society addresses climate change.
Part I: Climate Change Article Research Assignment (research for report)
Part II: Climate Change Report
Part III: Discussion post
Climate Change Report Overview:
You are to create a 3-5 page report, Double spaced, New Times Roman 12 font climate change research report. The research assignment contains 3 sections that you must include in your report and a conclusion:
● Analysis
● Discuss the main topic of: What is climate change? The main topic has subtopic
questions listed in the template that you must explain. You must also provide 1 image
and caption per section subtopic.
● Be sure to cite your sources and images properly. Sources should go back no further than year 2015.
● Write the section description in your own words and check that the images match your discussion. Include at least 3 sentences for each section to ensure it is fully explained.
● Synthesis:
o Discuss the two main topics of: the role of climate change and the consequences of climate change. Each main topic has subtopic questions listed in the template that you must explain. You must also provide 1 image and caption per section subtopic.
● Be sure to cite your sources and images properly. Sources should go back no further than year 2015.
o Write the section description in your own words and check that the images match your discussion. Include at least 3 sentences for each section to ensure it is fully explained.
● My Plan:
o Develop a plan that addresses how society can address climate change. Discuss the three
main topics of: How can individuals reduce carbon dioxide emissions, what is meant by
alternative energy, and what are some technology solutions to climate change. Each main
topic has subtopic questions listed in the template that you must explain. Use your research as well as Module 4 as a guide to give you ideas on how to approach this topic.
Be sure to include YOUR OWN IDEAS on how to address climate change as a society.
Make sure your plan is in YOUR OWN WORDS.
● Finally, analyze your plan and defend why you think it will work. Use additional research from the sources below to help defend your choices and to give a clear picture of the consequences (good and bad) of your plan. Sources should go back no further than year 2015.
o Nature magazine, Science, and the website Science News for Students are my primary sources for articles on these topics. This link is especially useful for up to date and student-focused articles. https://www.sciencenewsforstudents.org
o National Geographic is great as well—print and website.

o NOAA is always an amazing resource for all things weather and climate.

Climate Change Research Article Research Assignment Overview
The Climate Change Research Report also includes a Works Cited
page with information from outside research.
● The works cited page includes:
o Six total credible sources (At least 2 sources each for the analysis section, synthesis section, and the design section) that are cited correctly.
● Sources should go back no further than year 2015.
o Each source includes a 2-sentence summary of what you learned in the source.
● Check for resources posted on BrightSpace to help determine credible sources and to get you started on your research.
● For the design section, think about the costs of your plan and the effect temperature increase will have on coasts, ecosystems, food, health, and water. Think about these effects as you look for credible sources.
● The outside research guidance is located in the Research Assignment. This assignment is 100 points
as part of your overall PSLO assignment score.
● CPCC Library site: https://www.cpcc.edu/academics/library/student-resources
● You will then upload this into Brightspace.
● After you complete this assignment you will copy just the citations and place at the end of your report on the citation page.
● Your image citations should appear at the end of your report in the works cited page. You do not have to include it here.
