Purpose: The purpose of this writing assignment is for students to be able to define figurative language and the ways in which it is used in the literary context.
Directions: Students will need to research the various definitions of figurative language and create a definition in their own words based on the following question: What is figurative language? Students will need to think about the various types of figurative language and the ways in which they are used in literature. Students will need to have an introduction, at least three body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
