One of the animated presentations in the Week 7 lesson unit describes certain cognitive biases AND suggests ways to counteract their influence. The other animation also describes such biases but doesn’t address how one might overcome them. In the discussion forum, use your own thinking skills to suggest ways to counteract the cognitive biases in the animation that does not do so (12 Cognitive Biases Explained) and in the article (Types of Cognitive Biases). Use the discussion forum as if you were preparing to convert the article or the 12 Cognitive Biases Explained animation into sequels of the How to Make Better Decisions animation.
There is no need to make personal revelations in this discussion forum, but it may help if you have examined your own background and tendencies, identified your own cognitive biases, and attempted strategies to deal with them.
Try putting yourself in the position of a person with the bias in question. What are the implications of overcoming or not overcoming your bias? Try putting yourself in the position of a client asking a legal professional for advice. What are the implications of engaging someone with such a bias or another person who has overcome such a bias? Try putting yourself in the position of the opposing counsel. What are the implications of arguing against someone with such a bias as opposed to someone who has overcome such a bias?
Start sufficiently focused threads so that each thread is narrowly taking on one form of cognitive bias or a particular perspective on such a bias or a particular strategy for addressing a bias.
