CEPH Competency #2: Select quantitative and qualitative data collection methods appropriate for a given public health context
Consider the following case study:
Now that Luis has considered the level of prevention most appropriate for his program, he needs to select a planning model to organize his ideas. He considers MAP-IT, the CHANGE tool, and PRECEDE-PROCEED as possible choices. How does he determine which model will work best for this particular disease and community? Once he chooses a model to focus on, what types of data should he gather and how should he gather it?
Researchers use various methods to ensure that programs are meeting the objectives they set out to accomplish. They often utilize quantitative and qualitative data to assess the needs of a community and determine appropriate programs and interventions to reduce morbidity and mortality of diseases. The quantitative and qualitative data collection methods worksheet will allow you to critically examine planning models and data collection methods in a real-world scenario, and that is the focus of this Assignment.
To prepare:
Read Chapter 3 of the McKenzie et al. (2023) textbook on planning models.
Consider quantitative and qualitative data collection methods that might align to each planning model.
