Each student will volunteer at a community organization throughout the nursing program. Most nursing specialties should be involved in some aspect of the community. Community Health Nursing focuses on health care to promote quality of life and health care of communities and populations and is a great fit for service learning. Service learning also provides an opportunity for cultural immersion and value clarification.
Initial Post must address the following.
* Assessment/Identifying Problem
* Describe how the organization was chosen
* Identify how the organization is meeting the needs of the community.
* Planning
* Does the what goes into the day of the organization.
* Implementation
* What did you do to assist the organization to meet its goal or mission?
* Evaluation
* What did you learn?
* Describe what information you will take with you into practice when you become a nurse and as a student nurse.
* Any additional comments you would like to share.
