Assignment #3 Rubric
Review Article
Identify the three branches of genetics and write a research paper on them.Assignment: Write a Review Article on a topic of your choice.
You need to write the article in one of the 2 ways we discussed in class: (1) Either a straight review/compilation on what we know about a specific topic OR (2) a review where you take a specific stance on a certain topic and try to convince the reader (me or your peers) that your viewpoint is convincing.
The Review has to be a minimum of 6 pages of text, NOT including the References/Literature Cited section (which will be its own page at the end of the Review). There is no upper limit on the number of pages required, as long as the Review is thorough and complete. Longer does not necessarily mean better, so keep that in mind when you are writing.
You must use a minimum of 6 Peer-reviewed papers for you review (they can be either Primary or Secondary sources). The more papers you find to include in your review, the better, so please try and get more than 6 if you are able. Strong Review Articles always contain multiple papers, so in this case, more is usually better.
The general format and set-up of the Review is up to you, as long as you properly organize and Title and Number each section in the way we discussed in class. I will help you form your sections and titles during the editing process, so you will have some guidance in that area. You must properly use in-text citations as we discussed in class (and will discuss individually during editing), and include a properly formatted Literature Cited/References section.
