1. Choose 5 specific Physical Therapy subspecialties such as Neurological Rehabilitation, Acute Care (Inpatient Hospital therapy), Home Care, Wound Management, Pediatrics, Post-Acute (Rehabilitation Hospital), Geriatrics (Skilled Nursing Facility). Outpatient orthopedics will not be an option since that is the one setting with which most people are familiar.
Write one paper on each of the 5 topics you’ve chosen. Use at least 5 current published research articles on each topic area. These are likely to be about the therapy methods used to treat patients. Your paper should essentially summarize each article and provide a well-rounded view of that subspecialty. The due dates will follow a 2 week pattern.
Each paper should have an introduction section. Based on the 5 articles on that topic area, provide a description of what patient issues are and what the goals for the therapy generally are. In other words, paint a picture about that subspecialty. There should be another section of the paper that summarizes the methodology of each article. This will provide more context about the patients’ problems and how the techniques studied are executed. There should be a section of the paper that summarizes the results of the articles. Tables and figures are not needed. Pay attention to whether the interventions were significantly different or not and how much of an impact the interventions had. Lastly, there should be a section that summarizes the effectiveness of the treatments studied and their value to the field.
