Compose a paper discussing the definitions of population and community.
For Illinois, Sangamon compare key demographic characteristics between 2012 and 2022.
In making comparisons, draw the data from Census ACS 1-year estimates
Download/record the raw numbers for each characteristic. As appropriate calculate the percentages for proportional characteristics
such as % of population by race/ethnicity, percent of populaton by age cohorts, and other assigned characteristics
Build a table showing the data
Create at least two charts representing some characteristics, such as age, sex, or other. Your choice
For each of your charts, create a brief narrative that describes how your assigned geography has changed over the time periods selected,
how this change compares to changes in the host state, and changes in the nation.
Some required data will require you to add up data items.
Part 2: Stretch Question. This part of the exercise requires you to do some searching on your own without an explicit example.
Using data from the population estimates program, for the most recent data period available, find the components of population change over
a one year period for your assigned county.
The categories of change I want you to record and turn in:
!) Natural change: Number of births minus number of deaths
2) Net International Migration: Number of new migrants coming from other countries into your county minus the number leaving for another country
2) Net Domestic Migration: Number of U.S. residents who moved to your county in the specified 12-month period minus the number of people who moved to somewhere else in the U.S.
