1) Write an essay in which you describe the development and evolution of political power in the Near East from the Neolithic to the Persian period. You may want to address some of the following questions (but there are lot of ways to approach this question): What were the role of kings? How did they rule? How did kingship (states) develop? How did kings use religion to legitimate their actions? What differences do you see in leadership patterns or how rulers ruled?
