Assignment Question
Child marriage is a profoundly concerning global issue where children, often girls, are forced into marriage before adulthood. This practice violates the fundamental rightsof these children, robbing them of their education, health, and personal development.Laws surrounding child marriage vary significantly between countries, with some nationssetting a legal minimum age for marriage and others permitting exceptions based oncultural and religious grounds. My research has found that countries like Niger,Bangladesh, and India have some of the highest rates of child marriage, perpetuating acycle of poverty and gender inequality. To address this issue, it is crucial for countries toenforce and strengthen existing laws and implement comprehensive policies that promoteeducation and gender equality. My recommendations include raising awareness, empowering communities, and providing support systems to prevent child marriages.Additionally, international cooperation and pressure can help countries progress ineradicating this harmful practice. Ultimately, the elimination of child marriage requires amulti-faceted approach involving legal reforms, education, and social change.
This is the feedback I got: Hi Arsh–nice job so far! As you consider to go forward to develop your memo, please consider the following:
(1) Fully develop the problem. Are poverty and inequality the only issues. What about rape, domestic violence, maternal health? (2) Focus in on a particular area. Any one of the particular countries you mention would provide enough for a full discssion in your memo. (3) Focus in on the solution. While I did not expect for you to do so here, in your memo you should provide more specifics regarding solutions as well as a discussion of solutions proposed by others. Have they been effective?
