REGIONAL AIRLINE CREATION
Our final assignment involves creating our own regional airline based on the knowledge we have obtained from the course material. The creation of the airline will involve the development of a logo and name, the identification of a hub city and the creation of a ten city route network, and an aircraft that you will use to complete these flights.
This assignment is your chance to demonstrate your knowledge of the term regional airline and build your own airline based on all the content we have covered up to and including today’s module.
Once you are ready to begin you will likely need to determine the following: 1. The name of your new airline. 2. A logo of your new airline. 3. The major hub your new airline will be based from. These are major cities and will service their respective regions. For example, Toronto can service Ontario part of Quebec and USA Northeast; Vancouver can service British Columbia and USA Pacific; Calgary or Edmonton can service Alberta and the territories and so on. 4. The 9 other cities your airline will serve from your hub. Where are you going to travel with this airline? 5. ONE aircraft type you will be using to service these communities.
Your new regional airline will be submitted in a report format. To get an idea of how this will look follow the format below: 1. Introduction to Your Airline (approx. 1 page) Here you will introduce your new airline by providing a name and logo. You will need to explain the name you have chosen and the logo you have created and you will want to give us some detail about your brand. Will you offer short-haul, economy class flights? Will you offer a business or first class? Will you provide service on board? These details will help us understand what TYPE of regional airline you have created and the demographic you are targeting. 2. Details of your HUB and NETWORK (approx. 1 page) In this section you will provide details of the hub city you have chosen and why you have chosen to base yourself there. This is an opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of airline hub cities by explaining exactly why your hub is advantageous in the airline market. In this section you will also explain the reason why you have chosen the cites (9 in total) that you will fly to. Remember, this is a REGIONAL airline and therefore you will select REGIONAL cities. These will be domestic and/or transborder cities that are within a two hour flight range from your hub. Your regional airline will not have the capacity to fly international destinations. 3. You will need to include a route map that includes your hub and nine other destinations. 4. Aircraft Type Chosen (approx. 1 page) Some regional airlines fly on the Q400 aircraft, others may fly on the 737, some may choose the Embraer 175 or Embraer 190 or you may choose a CRJ jet. Your airline must select just ONE aircraft to use for all your flights. In this section you will explain what aircraft your have selected and WHY you have selected this aircraft. You will need to research the aircraft types to make a selection and then justify this decision.
5. Conclusion (approx. 1 -2 paragraphs) Your report should conclude with a summary of your airline. This is an opportunity to wrap up your vision into a one or two paragraph summary of what you have created. 6. Reference List ALL PHOTOS AND INFO ACQUIRED FROM OUTSIDE SOURCES MUST BE REFERENCED. Each topics has to be in one page.
