Write one 4-5 page paper double spaced. The paper should choose one myth or ritual from our course readings explaining how it relates to the lived context of a particular group of people. How does this group of people enact this ritual/myth? How does it frame their lived experience? How do they keep tradition alive? How does it impact their social standing? How does it set them apart as a group? These should be analytical papers that posit an argument and attempt to prove a point. You should have a minimum of 3 academic sources outside of the assigned readings from our class. Academic sources can be found through the library, and include peer reviewed journals/articles, as well as, books published through academic presses. Websites and the internet in general are not valid/academic sources for this paper. Use the citation style that is dominant in your major/field. The thesis I chose was: The belief in “pamahiin,” a Filipino myth and ritual, affects the daily lives of Filipino Americans in the US.
