Discuss how it is produced and where workers might be vulnerable in the supply chain.

Subject: Business
We take for granted that when we go to the grocery store the shelves will be stocked with every food we want. COVID-19 has revealed that the food supply chain relies heavily on workers. These workers are often amongst the most vulnerable: work for lower pay, moving around, often have inherently dangerous jobs made more dangerous by the pandemic.
Food doesn’t just come from a Canadian family farm. It originates around the globe. Food also involves transportation, processing, and logistical coordination.

Bitter Brew: The Stirring Reality of Coffee

Labor and Workers in the Food System

The assignment is to pick one item that you eat (your favorite food). An example might be coffee, chocolate, milk, avocados, fish, etc. Discuss how it is produced and where workers might be vulnerable in the supply chain. Perhaps, you will conclude that there are no problems and that the food is produced with no labour issues. Identify what type of protections are available for the workers. How is the food sold to you? (For example if your topic is a Starbucks Latte then consider not just the coffee workers but the barista that is serving it. Consider what COVID-19 means for grocery store workers/truck drivers/serving staff).
The assignment should be between 750 to 1000 words. Please write in paragraphs and sentences.
Submit it via a file (I work in MS word. Something I can read is preferable)
