(not including restating the questions) and use at least 2-3 in-text
citations from different sources to support your answers. Include the
sources at the end of your discussion.
1. Choose
one of the formal assessments in Chapter 5 on page 59 and complete it
about yourself. Was it a valuable experience? Do you believe formal
assessments are important and do you plan on incorporating them into
your practice?
2. Review the Sexological Ecosystemic Questionnaire at the end of
Chapter 5 on page 64. Are there any questions that you think are
essential for certain sexual problems, and why? Are there any that make
you feel uncomfortable to ask your clients? How is understanding a
client’s sexological ecosystem helpful in understanding a client’s
development? Do you see yourself using this questionnaire on a potential
client? Why or why not?
It’s important to note that the author of the text suggests being
selective about which questions you ask a client. In other words, pick
and choose which questions to focus on. It is not advised to not give
the questionnaire to a client to complete at home.
3. What myths about sex in committed relationships do you and/or your
clients hold? How might you talk to clients about the natural loss of
desire or sexual boredom? How might you motivate clients to stay
together, if that is their goal? Would you recommend any alternative
lifestyles, such as, swinging or polyamory, to the couples you see? Why
or why not?
