In this task, you will submit a critical analysis.
To complete this task, you will critically read and analyse two texts which will be provided along with an essay question.
You will then write a critical analysis which includes a short summary of the two texts and a critique of both texts in relation to the provided essay question.
Your critical analysis should also have an introduction and conclusion.
This task gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your critical reading and writing skills, as well as your ability to summarise, analyse and synthesise information from academic texts.

Task details
You will write a critical analysis in relation to the following essay question:
Define the theory of social constructionism. Choose two social phenomena studied in this subject, such as perception, voice, identity, intercultural communication and power, and explain how social constructionism contributes to or challenges our understanding of them. Use contemporary examples from a real-life context (eg a community/political event, festival or ceremony) and academic sources to support your claims.
Follow the instructions below to complete the task.

2. Open a new Word document and save it to your computer, so you can upload it when you have completed the task.
3. Write a reference list at the top of your document for the two texts provided. Your reference list should follow the Harvard WesternSydU referencing style. A copy of the style guide can be downloaded from the Western Sydney University Library website.
4. Read the texts and make note of the main ideas, arguments and evidence then write your summary section.
5. Use the critical reading checklist we studied in class to help you critically analyse the texts. Then use the critical analysis matrix we studied in class to help you compare the two texts in relation to the provided essay question.
6. Write your critical analysis using the structure from the learning materials in your saved document, including an introduction, a summary, a critique section and a conclusion.
7. Use in-text citations whenever you refer to the texts in your critical analysis — you should have at least three in-text citations. Use the Harvard WesternSydU referencing style for all in-text citations.
8. Check that the total word count for the critical analysis is 750 words.
9. Remember to edit and proofread your work.
10. Upload your response in your saved Word document to Turnitin on vUWS by the due date
