Your literature review must have an introduction paragraph that:
Explains the focus/topic of the literature review
Discusses why this topic is important
Provides a quick background/history of the topic
Provides a quick overview of the body of knowledge (i.e., work/research) that exists on the topic
Identifies any controversies that exist within the topic or the research community
Multiple body paragraphs that:
Comprehensively summarize the body of knowledge/current state of knowledge on the topic
Notes major themes or trends, including areas where different researchers agree or disagree
NOTE: Do not use one paragraph per resource. Body paragraphs must be separated by topic, not by resource.
A conclusion that:
Summarizes all the information in the body paragraphs
Highlights gaps AND/OR suggests practical applications of the research as well as the implications and possibilities for future research
Formatting Requirements
An MLA style cover section with your name, instructor’s name, course number and section, date, and assignment title. An MLA Style running header is required.
Minimum word count: At least 3 pages (Works Cited does not count towards page count)
A minimum of 8 resources on an MLA style Works Cited page with in-text citations
At least 4 resources must be scholarly from a library database or books (physical or digital).
The entire paper must be formatted in MLA style (including double-spacing, 12 pt. text, Times New Roman font, black font, and 1 in. margins)
