Let’s continue our conversation about the stockholder versus the stakeholder orientation. So far, of the authors we’ve read and thinkers we’ve considered, I would say that the following are stakeholder theorists: Dan Ariely, Amartya Sen, and our Business Ethics textbook authors. I would definitely say that Milton Friedman is a stockholder theorist. The question worth deep consideration this week is: was Adam Smith a stakeholder theorist or a stockholder theorist?
